Majestic Choctaw Ridge Ranch
Medicine Mound, TX 79225
Hardeman County, Texas

Ranch Description
From mesquite thickets and ravines to towering hardwoods, river frontage and pastures, the Choctaw Ridge Ranch is as diverse as it is impressive.
The ranch is bordered on the north and west by a 10,000-acre cattle ranch and on its east by a 1,500-acre ranch. The property has no public road frontage; you enter the ranch from a deeded easement coming through the 10,000 acre ranch. No road hunters or poachers will disturb your game.
The hunting on the Choctaw Ridge is outstanding, with some of the largest whitetails in the surrounding tri-county area. A buck scoring 173 was shot on it in 2005!
The property has been strictly managed, with only 4-year-olds and up being harvested. Only 3-4 bucks per year have been taken off the ranch. While whitetails are predominant, mule deer are slowly migrating east in Hardeman County, and there is a declared mule deer season.
Other wildlife includes turkey, duck, geese, quail, dove, hog, bobcat, and coyote. Roosting areas, plum thickets, and dense brush provide ample cover.
The ranch’s south border meanders along the Pease River, which carries channel catfish and is a flyway for migrating ducks and geese. An assortment of trees and grasses fill the property. On the north end is a 110-acre cultivated field, sewn in winter wheat. The central pasture consists of stubby mesquite brush and bluestem clumps, and blends into thickets of mesquite and hackberry trees.
A little further south, the ranch opens up to a lush river bottom, with bluestem and gamma grasses and tall cottonwoods. Wild plums provide great bedding areas. There are a few areas along the river where small food plots have been carved out, and also areas where large chinaberry motts have grown into ideal spots for tree stands and bowhunting.
There is also a 10-acre tract with a manufactured house, additional bunk house, round barn, and pens available for sale. This tract lies one mile north of the subject property. The view from the back porch stretches across the whole ranch, over the pastures and down to the Pease River valley.
